Production Line

3 comments:
Today's blog post is bought to you by the number 2 and the words "Production Line".

With my staff member perched on my lap, we broke into the pile of fabrics and cut what felt like 100 squares and rectangles

We finished off six iphone/ipod/sunglasses cases (just needing the flexi frames to go in) for the wonderful carers at our daycare, as well as a panel of 12 Christmas Decorations from Prints Charming, all sewen together just needing trimming, turning, stuffing and then hand sewing closed which I plan on doing tomorrow morning at Craft Group.

Now for some afternoon tea and put the workers back to the sewing machine to make Nanny a Christmas present I thought of this morning.

Family Fun Day

1 comment:
Every year, Dean's work puts on a Family Fun Day at the end of the year. Everything is catered and paid for, rides, food, drinks, kids shows, reptile show, sports with Australian champions, drinks, ice creams.... yep it's a pretty unreal day.

This years show was Spongebob Squarepants. Previous years the kids saw Rugrats and last year was a Dorothy/Wags/Captain Feathersword show.

Watching Spongebob very closely

I sat out of all the rides, what being pregnant and all, but I did make up for it in food, drink and ice cream.

Sweet {and cheap}

2 comments:
One of the big drawcards for me when I started sewing was just how much cheap it was to clothes for the kids with all the beautiful fabrics out there.

Take one $3 t-shirt from Kmart for baby girl, and a pair of super cute iron on transfers from Beutron for $3, equals...

The other side of course is both Isabella and Liam are tall but teeny tiny waists (don't know where they got the small waists from). Buying clothes for them can be hard, by the time I get the right length, it is swimming around their waists. Nothing like a 3 year old boy walking down the road with his shorts around his ankles.

Take a metre of Patty Young knit, the length of a size 7 UTA pattern but taken in at the sides for "Miss no waist long legs", equals

Best of all, it took about 40mins to finish the two together.

For the man of the house

Melbourne Tram Fabric Panel from Patchwork on Central Park (sorry can't find who made it, there is no selvedge on the panel)

A quick cushion for Dean to go with some new ones I picked up from Country Road this week. He should love it, being originally from Melbourne, and our first date was to Victoria Market.. a nice sentimental addition and totally "blokey".

Kona Cotton Rainbow

4 comments:
New Kona Cotton fabric to do some more work on my Heather Ross quilt.
From top: Lemon, Orange, Tomato, Medium Pink, Peony, Blueberry, Sky, Basil, Olive, Stone and Coffee.

Some baby shoes for the little Miss.

Isabella insisted on getting a photo with them.

Disclaimer: her outfit was NOT chosen by me. I had her dressed perfectly decent for our play date this morning and she changed into this. Why she loves the hideous headband and far too small dress I will never know.

For our baby girl...

2 comments:

Pattern: 0-3month Pretty as a Picture dress from the Anna Marie Horner book Handmade Beginings
Fabric: Spotlight cotton picked by her big sister

The first (of many) outfits for our baby girl when she arrives next year. I adjusted the pattern and removed the centre panel from the front and back skirt, making it just a single piece for both.

Far Far Away 2 Lattice Quilt Start

2 comments:
A couple of nights ago I started cutting out my Far Far Away 2 fat quarters to start on a version of this beautiful quilt which reminds me of a garden lattice. I love the idea of a quilt featuring an entire range of fabrics, especially the beautiful images from Heather Ross including Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, and The Owl and the Pussycat.

So all the squares are now cut as are most of the white strips. Last night I put together half the rows and hopefully, with the kids staying the night at their Grandparents and all day tomorrow I might get the top finished.

Start of the Far Far Away 2 quilt

Tomorrow we have our 20 week ultrasound and if it turns out to be a little girl, I think this might just be hers. If it's a boy, I have some very cute David Walker Robots fabric sitting in a drawer, perfect for a quilt.
